Finding the Eye of the Storm with Mindfulness of Breathing
The Anapanasati Sutta is one of the foremost instructions of the historical Buddha regarding the practice of meditation, and the development of clarity and insight. When mindfulness of breathing is imbued with open-hearted curiosity, the mind stabilizes and finds its way to equanimity, and to a great capacity to respond effectively to chaos and all the vagaries of human experience. On this day of practice, we will explore the core aspects of these instructions, and a range of ways to approach them.
This silent retreat is suitable for beginners and will be a valuable refresher and reboot for experienced meditators. All are welcome, seasoned practitioners to “fidgety skeptics,” as Dan Harris calls them! Come reclaim some steadiness and ease in a tumultuous time.
Jon offers the teachings freely in the Buddhist tradition of dana (giving). There will be an opportunity to contribute dana to Jon Aaron at the retreat.
This retreat is hosted by the University of Chicago Buddhist Association. Click the registration button above and you will be sent to their registration form. You do not have to be connected with the University to attend (enter “ICMC” as your affiliation)
