Join ICMC member and Forest Therapy Guide Allison Rodenhouse in a meditative journey through nature
Forest therapy, also known as forest bathing, stems from the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or “being in the atmosphere of the forest”. While spending time in nature, forest bathing is a simple meditative practice that helps promote a sense of calm and ease, improved health and mental wellbeing, while also cultivating a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the natural world. ICMC sangha member Allison Rodenhouse is a certified Forest Therapy guide and offers walks through nature in Chicagoland. As a guide, she facilitates participants' re-connection with nature and the present moment by offering a crafted sequence of nature and meditation sensory invitations, kind of like a guided meditation through the forest.
Forest bathing sessions include a welcome and sharing about the benefits for forest bathing followed by a guided meditation that will open our senses to the natural world. After the meditation, we’ll begin our leisurely walk of less than a mile with stops along the way where we’ll engage in sensory oriented invitations. The session will take place on grass, gravel and unpaved foot paths, with plenty of opportunity to wander through the woodland! The walk will end with a tea gathering and snacks.
Cost: $28
