Wisconsin-based teacher Santikaro will be unable to make the Oct 22nd day of mindfulness sponsored by Lakeside Vipassana due to complications from his recent illness. Our thoughts go towards his speedy recovery.
The day of mindfulness will proceed as scheduled this Saturday, and a Dhamma talk will be played that Santikaro has recorded for the occasion.

The Elgin Insight Meditation group in the western suburbs of Chicago has been relaunched as Fox Valley Insight. Instead of weekly sits, this group will hold monthly days of mindfulness lead by Deb Wright, graduate of the Advanced Study and Practice Program at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies and long time dhamma practitioner.
Fox Valley Insight offers monthly full and half day practice days. The days are mostly kept in silence with alternate sitting and movement meditation periods. In addition to meditation, there is usually a question-and-answer session and a dharma talk about the Buddha’s teachings. Scheduled extended practice days are listed here and are offered with three options: morning only (9:00 – noon), afternoon only (1:00 – 4:00), or full day (9:00 – 4:00). Insight Chicago is pleased to announce a day of mindfulness with our friend and teacher Santikaro on October 22nd. The event will be held at Anderson Hall at Fourth Presbyterian Church on Chestnut St. and Michigan Ave from 10 am to 3 pm. Please bring your cushions, although chairs will be provided for those who cannot sit. There is a suggested donation of $20 to cover the costs of for the space.
